Chevrolet Caprice 1972 Description
1972 Chevrolet caprice kingswood estate station wagon. This wagon was a one couple owned car until about two years ago. Purchased new in 1972 and driven by the husband until his passing in 1992. The wagon spent the rest of the following years at a cousins farm a half a mile north of Otis Kansas, being started every so often and moved from building to building when it got in their way. The owner never had any children so her cousin took care of her affairs including selling the car to me. The car has 92,428 miles on it. It is a 8 passenge, with 3 rows of seating .The wagon was ordered with a 454 motor, 400 turbo transmission, a/c that works but needs a can of r12 once a year. It also has power steering and brakes, plus cruise control but needs a $100. part to work right. It was a power seat but it just clicks and never move, so a have a set of manual seat tracks if you move the seat a lot .The gas gage does not work and I am sure it is the sender in the tank. The wagon came new with AM/8 track stereo but none of it worke, so a found a new old stock Lear Jet brand (Sold by Sears) AM/FM 8 track with new pioneer speakers. The interior is all black cloth with wood grain accent and is almost like brand new except for a one inch tear in headliner and the drivers side backres, which is getting frayed down low were your butt would pivot getting in the out of the car. The second and third seats are like brand new and looks like they were never used. There is also one crack in dash that runs 3-4 inches lon, but they make a vinyl dash overlay for under $100.00. The steering wheel has cracks in it like all old Chevy's.The clock also does not work likemost old cars. It has a power rear defroster and power rear glass that rolls up into the roof and the tailgate rolls under the car, but is a manua, not a power tailgate . There is a long dent in the left rear door and the rr bumper is pushed in alittle by therr quarter panel . There are smalldoor dings under the wood grain whichneeds to be replaced if your a perfectionist .The kingwoods has a little rust trying to peek out at the bottom of the quarter dog legs, otherwise it does not show any rustholes. The paint seems to be original but the front fender wood grain looks newer then the rest.I have gone through the carb, replace the ignition with a HEI distributo, with plugs and wires, Also new hose, water pump, motor mount, shocks, valve cover gaskets, and rebuilt the heater a/c blower systems and install new tires and rim, which have 1,500? miles on them. These Chevy and Gm clam shell wagons are very popular with demo derby guys and will bring $2,500. as a junkie rolling shell. I did not steal it when I bought it ,but turned down $5,500 two days after I bought i, and puttingin the money I have spent already, my reserve is a little more then that.I really think you could drive this home, but it would be best to replace the radiator just because of its age. I also have the complete owners books with the window sticker and the owners log book with records of repairs, from 1972 to 1992. All old original parts go with the car such as radio, hub caps, distributer and the tires and wheels..Being a 52 year old car, it does not come with any warrantees or guarantees ----- The Winner needs to put down $500.00 deposit with PayPal in 48 hours and pay the rest in 10 days.
