Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1955 Description
For sale in our Chicago showroom is a classic 1955 Chevrolet 210 unlike any other on the road. 1955 brought about a shift in design for the Chevrolet line of General Motors and adapted a “Shoebox†design which featured straight, smooth panels, a wrap-around windshield glass and triangular shaped taillights that jutted outward slightly. The first series of the Tri-Fives had a neat tidy appearance that adapted well to mild-customization. This ’55 is no exception!! Known as the Bellflower Boulevard Cruiser, this Chevy was completed by Steve DuPue who hung around the Southern Calfornia cruise strip as a teenager and developed a love and passion for hot rods of the era. In 2009 he found the car he wanted to go along with a 409 engine he already had and the rest is history. After searching for a bit for a vehicle with little to no rust or bondo he found one that fit the bill and proceeded to build the marvelous creation you see before you. The color chosen is an orange/red shade by Debeers called Verkehrscrot 3620 and looks amazing on the straight, smooth panels of this 210.
The goal was to create a Hot Rod but keep with the originality of what was being done in the 1960’s to these classic cars. The 350 that was in the car was tossed for the 409 Chevy V8. It is estimated that only about 50 Mickey Thompson power ram manifolds were made for the 409 but one was found. This car features twin Edelbrock 500-cfm carbs, Competition Cams Camshaft, roller rockers, forged rods, Ross pistons and aluminum heads and MSD ignition system provides the “juiceâ€. This car sounds amazing as the 409 sings its way through a set of Al’s Headers and a pair of glasspack mufflers. Power is generated to a TH400 transmission with an 1800-stall convertor and delivered to the 3:73 Posi-Traction rear end with an Art Morrison four-link and Art Morrison adjustable antiroll bar and a set of Aldan Eagle coilover shocks. The front suspension was redone with the addition of tubular
A-Arms and a set of drilled and slotted disc brakes.
The entire restoration of this vehicle was done with the highest quality materials and workmanship and it shows. The black leather tuck-and-roll interior is of the highest quality and looks great along with the period correct loop-style carpeting. The Billet Specialties steering wheel is bolted to an Ididit column and blends in perfectly. This car is ready for a cruise night and also features additional LED red accent lights in the grill and fender wells. This beauty is ready to turn some heads and bring home some trophies.
